Sculpture & Exploration / Installation > adopt my foxes (2009-10)

the foxes are more about exploring character and colour than they are about capturing the accurate likeness of a fox.
each one is an individual personality, carefully needle felted around a wire armature.
the process involves many hours of sculpting raw wool with a tiny barbed needle, causing the fibre to matte into itself and form a solid, sturdy object.
they are free-standing and slightly posable, and i've used them in photography projects to quietly explore the world around me (see them investigate the great outdoors in the ecotone section).

they are not meant to be toys, since there is a pointy wire armature hiding in their paws & their fur/detailing is delicate to pulling, prodding and getting wet.
please pose them gently, and feel free to keep me updated with photos/info on their new homes be they mantels, windowsills, or some other quiet sunlit world.

the dimensions noted are based on the space that the fox takes up in it's current pose - but these are of course variable depending on their position.
